To create a platform for international cultural exchange and provide an opportunity for international students to showcase themselves in this blossoming spring of April, the “Ode to Spring - 2019 BUCEA International Cross0cultural Communication Exhibition”, sponsored by the International Development Research Institute (School of International Education), was held at the Student Activity Center of Daxing Campus on the afternoon of April 2. Vice Dean of BUCEA in charge of international exchange, Secretary of Foreign Affairs, leaders and teachers of the Department of Student Affairs (for undergraduates), Graduate School, Department of Student Affairs (for postgraduates), Youth League Committee, Department of International Cooperation and Exchange (School of International Education), students of the International Exchange Association, students of the "2+2" Class of Sino-American cooperation in water supply and drainage, and international students participated in the event.

The exhibition area of the event presented a collection of calligraphy and painting works, Chinese social practice course essays and course assignments on Introduction to Chinese Culture by international students, as well as exhibits such as research impressions, photos and souvenirs from the winter break "Chinese Cultural Journey - Shanghai Station" and the "2019 China-Tunisia 'Belt and Road' International Cultural Ambassador Exchange Program". International students actively searched for their own works and introduced them to other students in the exhibition area, creating a vibrant atmosphere.

After the appreciation and communication in the exhibition area, the leaders, teachers, and students were seated, and the stage presentation was started. Four representatives of international students, Fulai, Aida, Hailu and Tesfaye, who participated in the Winter Break "Chinese Cultural Journey - Shanghai Station" Program, presented their experiences and insights in Shanghai through PPT in both Chinese and English. Gao Xuefei and Zhao Hu, two of the representative of student cultural ambassadors who participated in the "2019 China-Tunisia 'Belt and Road' International Cultural Ambassador Exchange Program" during the winter break, also shared their experiences and gains in Tunisia. Following the PPT presentation and sharing, the teachers awarded certificates and issued IDRI badges to 16 outstanding international exchange students.

At the end, the Chinese and foreign students presented a wonderful performance together. Four international students from Kazakhstan performed traditional dances with beautiful costumes and graceful postures, bringing a sense of Kazakh culture to the audience. With international student Amir playing and singing Turkish songs, we felt like we were really in the romantic Turkey! Six students from "2+2" class in China-US cooperation in water supply and drainage sang "cups" to the rhythm of cup collisions, which showed the team spirit in Chinese culture. International students Li Te, Ma Xuri, and Wang Dalong sang the songs "We Are Not the Same", "Rainbow", and "Kangding Love Song", respectively. The performance of "Tai Chi Fan" by five international students was powerful but also flexible, demonstrating the learning and understanding of traditional Chinese culture among our international students.

After the event, Chinese and international students were still engaging in exchanges. They expressed that in general, international students and Chinese students had their own circles, but through this event, they were able to understand and learn about the culture of different countries, and also made many new friends.
With the successful conclusion of the “Ode to Spring - 2019 BUCEA International Cross0cultural Communication Exhibition”, Chinese and international teachers and students enjoyed the exhibition, report and performance, and the smiles on everyone's faces were as bright and brilliant as the prime spring time just outdoors. Through cultural exchange, we understand and are inclusive of each other and are united in the big family of BUCEA.
